8 police officers shoot and kill homeless man

Inglewood police say eight officers involved in the death of a homeless man were not involved in the department's three previous fatal shootings.
The department released the officers' names on Friday, one day after the City Council announced the officers had been suspended pending further training.
Police say the officers fired as many as 47 times on Sunday when Eddie Felix Franco appeared to reach for a gun in his waistband. The gun turned out to be fake.
Some of the bullets injured a pit bull and grazed the head of a passing motorist.
Police say they are "responding aggressively" to the City Council's order to review training within the department.
The council also suggested that police consider recruiting from other law enforcement agencies until improvements are made.
The council also ordered a review of the entire department to decide whether all officers need similar direction.
Inglewood officers have killed four civilians in the last four months, prompting a congresswoman and several advocates to call for an investigation into the department.

Most Wanted Cop on Run from the Law

Police officer charged with murder and child molestation is now on the U.S. Marshals Service 15 "Most Wanted" list.

The Marshals Service said Daniel William Hiers allegedly used his position of trust to gain the confidence of a single mother, then molested her 10-year-old daughter over a period of several months.

Hiers, 32, was arrested in 2004, suspended from the police force and released on bond.

When he failed to show up to answer charges officers found his wife in their bedroom with a fatal gunshot to the head. Hiers was charged with this murder, but has been a fugitive.

Hiers is a white male, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 210 pounds with blue eyes and blond hair. He has 11 years police experience, is trained in the martial arts and maintains a high level of fitness.

The U.S. Marshals Service believes that he is armed with a .40-caliber Glock pistol and may possess a bullet-resistant vest.

Cops have no idea how far Hiers has managed to escape, or which way he went. Investigators believe that he is driving his wife’s car. They are concerned because the hospital where his car was found is located close to the Mexican border. The car is examined for any evidence that will link Hiers to the crime. Read more!

Police officer kills man while other cops laugh

Police officers were taped joking about a dying, homeless Guatemalan immigrant after he was found on the side of a deserted road in their suburban town, a television station reported.

A homeless immigrant found dying by a deserted road had asked a police officer to take him there because he was trying to avoid a man he had menaced a few days before, the officer's lawyer told a newspaper.
Mount Kisco Police Officer George Bubaris has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges in the death of Rene Perez, who was from Guatemala. The case has raised questions about police treatment of immigrants in suburbs north of New York City.

"You wanna hear something really funny? ... He's alive " a Bedford police officer tells a sergeant on a taped phone call. The 42-year-old Perez had a history making drunken 911 calls, and he'd had a series of contacts with police in Mount Kisco and neighboring Bedford on the night he died. Bedford police had taken him into Mount Kisco , hours later, prosecutors say, Bubaris drove Perez back to Bedford, dealt him a deadly blow to the abdomen and abandoned him to die.

Man died after being jailed for parking tickets and missing chemo

Glenn Seldon (50) died after being arrested on May 11, 2007, for driving with a license that had been suspended for unpaid parking tickets. He was heading for Manhattan to pick up his wife after work when he got lost and stopped to ask some police officers for the direction. It's unclear how, but the officers found out that his license was suspended.

They immediately arrested him and locked him up for four days for a minor traffic offense. Seldon was battling colon cancer and needed daily medication to control blood clots and a infection. He had a chemotherapy waiting for him so he could hopefully be better and go on a family vacation to Hawaii.
Cops disregarded his weak condition and ignored his need for medicines. After four days behind bars he was dehydrating, his clothes was dirty, and he was incontinent and also weeping uncontrollably.Family's attorney said that "this matter could have been handled in a more compassionate and humane way".
When Seldon's daughter, Criscelle Seldon, saw her father with his soiled pants hanging around his ankles, she said that he looked like he had been in a concentration camp. The doctors from North Shore University Hospital that tried to save Glenn Seldon life, said his infection had worsened and his blood platelet level was dangerously low. He then suffered from mini strokes and unfortunately died 20 May. His wife, Angela Seldon, believes that the stress and the trauma from the incident caused his death. Read more!
